Job Description:
Every treatment made to a patient in a hospital requires a record of what is observed and administered. Included in this record are symptoms and medical history, examination and test results, and diagnoses and treatment plans. Assisting the Health Information Administrator with the maintenance of all these records is the Health Information Technician. Health Information Technicians organize and evaluate records (typed or computerized) for completeness and accuracy.
Salary: $27,040 to $41,200
Education and Professional Requirements:
To become a RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) an individual must earn an Associate degree from an accredited Health Information Technology program and pass the national certification to be an RHIT
