Shelton State Community College is part of a state system of public colleges. This system originated in the Alabama Trade School and Junior College Authority Act enacted by the state legislature in May 1963. The governing board for the institutions within this system is the Alabama State Board of Education (ASBE) and the Chancellor, Alabama College System, Department of Postsecondary Education, is the chief executive officer of the system.
The nursing faculty and staff here at Shelton State are committed to responding to the health needs of West Alabama. We offer comprehensive curricula for the education of nursing students.
The Shelton State Associate Degree and Practical Nursing Programs are approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing (ABON) and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN); the Nursing Assistant Program is approved by the Alabama Department of Public Health.
